Because I’ve been meaning to dabble in mod cars for games like Trackmania , Assetto Corsa , and rFactor , I signed up for this 3D Modeling and Animation course. At first I was happy that I can learn how those guys do it, then suddenly I realized that this thing could be really out of my league, to say nothing of my shit-tier Aspire Z computer.
Here are the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . They’re all things I’m completely unfamiliar with. And while I can say I’m a fast learner, I can’t draw for shit. Like, my hands can’t draw what my mind imagines in the way I want to see it on a page or a screen. And sure as shit I can’t draw a human. What do, Oppo? Hold my hand, for I fear the night.

Here are the outlines in case the link does not work.

1) yep your links are busted, you’re trying to link to a local and not a hosted file
2) for anything worth learning, you will never be comfortable before you start.
3) any penalty for bailing out later?

Fear not for most modelers can’t draw worth a flip. We signed up both of our kids for a week-long 3-D modeling/animation course. Both of them were bored the first day.
Being the only girl in the class, my daughter got a heaping helping of sexism from the boys on the first day. She showed them that a girl could do it better and faster than any of the boys in the class. She had the advantage of being a couple of years older than most of the boys.
Sorry for getting sidetracked. Enjoy the class. You will be fine.

I’m pretty much in your case, I’m dying to be able to do 3D modeling but I can’t draw shit... I’m waiting for your feedback to see if such a thing is a goal I can reach!

Not sure what actual programs you’ll be learning but car companies typically model in Alias and use VRED to render. For car exteriors. There are lots of programs for interior/individual parts.
I’m a car/industrial designer at an automotive supplier so I photoshop a lot and model. But most modelers/engineers never have to draw. I wouldn’t worry too much about that.

Well, that’s reassuring. Thanks, man.

Take the class and get out of it whatever you can. So what if its over your head! And like others have said, don’t worry about the no drawing part.
Take lots of notes and ask questions. 3D/CGI is a long journey towards feeling competent in 3D/CGI. I’ve been doing it for years and there are areas I’m strong in, and areas I’m not. These mostly corespond to what I like to do and what my job demands :)
In your posted course description, based on the line “Day 5 - Conversion to Edit Poly”, it sounds like they’re teaching you 3DS Max, which, I know quite well at this point. Ask me some questions here if your not getting the answers in your class.
